Working People A La Milton Rogovin

I did my history of photography project on long-time Buffalo, NY resident, Milton Rogovin. Rogovin was internationally known for his social documentary photography on the lives of working people. He did his work in black and white.

He developed a number of photographic series based on the people in working-class neighborhoods in Buffalo, returning to them periodically over a period of over thirty years. An early series focused on store front churches in the primarily African-American East Side of Buffalo. One of the hallmarks of his work was his desire to show people at work (particularly heavy industry and mining) and then with their families outside of work - in a setting of their choosing.
